Mason County Middle School FCCLA
Youth in Action Team
The Mason County Middle School Youth in Action Team was the first Middle School to participate in MADD's Youth in Action Program Nationwide. The conducted Sticker Shock, a Roll Call Briefing and Law Enforcement Recognition Ceremony for the Mason County Sheriff's Department and Maysville Police Department, Tie One On for Safety, and received recognition for their underage drinking prevention activity in the FCCLA STAR Events Competition. The youth took the lead and got people talking about the underage drinking problem in Maysville, KY, and throughout the Commonwealth through word of mouth discussion, media, projects, and teamwork. The success of their program led the way for many other Middle School Youth in Actions in KY and throughout the nation. One of the youth is now beginning his first year of college, and continues to be an active volunteer in the prevention of underage drinking.
