Congratulations Madison Action Teams on successful Sticker Shocks that placed labels on multi-packs of beer to remind adults to "do the right thing," and not provide alcohol to minors under-21.

Madison County Youth in Action Team

Madison County's Youth in Action team conducted its fourth annual law enforcement recognition event on Tuesday evening with presentation of awards to four local police departments and 17 officers who have worked with the local teen group to reduce access to alcohol by minors. The agencies recognized by Youth in Action were Kentucky State Police, Post #7; Richmond Police Department; Berea Police Department and the Eastern Kentucky University Police Department.

The officers who were recognized for their work with Youth in Action include, Berea Police Chief David Gregory, Capt. Ken Clark, Detective David Wagoner and Officer Adam Hall; Richmond Police Chief Larry Brock, Asst. Chief James Wilson, Corp. Catherine Eaves, Officer Norman Craig and Officer Whitney Maupin; and Kentucky State Police Captain Eddie Johnson, St. Greg Crockett, Trooper Chris Chenault, Trooper Darrell Hutchinson, Trooper Bubba Botkin and Trooper Phillip Powell; and EKU Police Chief Mark Merriman, Officer Brad Early and Officer Cecilee Tangel.

The Madison County Youth in Action Team led Adult Coordinator Jennifer Webb of Madison County consist of 20 middle school, high school, and college student volunteers. The team participates in Sticker Shock, Law Enforcement Recognition Events, Roll Call Briefings, Alco-pops Presentations, Town Hall Meetings, and has worked with local and state law-makers to increase awareness of the KY Underage Drinking Problem. The team is supported by a MADD KY Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws Grant from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Deliquency Prevention; the KY Youth Enpowerment System; the Madison County ASAP; and other local community agencies and individuals.
