Knott County Youth In Action Team

The first Youth in Action Team in Knott County began this last year. The team has already conducted a Town Hall Meeting in which they educated more than 50 adults about Alco-pops beverages and the danger of hosting underage drinking parties on their property. The event received excellent press coverage. The group is currently planning to conduct the first ever Sticker Shock event in a dry county in which the youth will work with local convenience stores and grocery stores that do not sell alcohol in their county to position MADD Stickers with underage drinking prevention messages to parents on things which could be considered drink mixers. This is a new and different way to reach a different adult population, and is sure to produce excellent outcomes in the community that can be continued in other parts of the state.
